Buildings must meet minimal efficiency requirements in order to comply with the Building Energy Efficiency Standards, Title 24, Part 6 (Standards). The requirements of the Standards for residential construction apply to several types of buildings in California, including:

  • Single Family Residences
  • Duplexes
  • All other residential buildings three stories or less in height
  • Additions and alterations to existing buildings of any of the above listed building types

This section also covers various building system components, such as insulation, windows and HVAC. Videos cover the specific Standards requirements for these systems and their application, as well as helpful best practice guidelines.
