Gas: Gas Tankless
Instantaneous (or tankless) water heaters including gas, oil, small electric, and large instantaneous, indirect gas water heaters and hot water supply boilers can provide improved efficiency because they do not store heated water, thereby reducing standby losses. In fact, they can be up to four times more efficient than a tank water heater. However, they do have some performance reduction due to the impacts of thermal cycling and small hot water draws on the heat exchanger.
