Cool Roofs Standards

The 2008 Title 24 Building Energy Standards have new requirements regarding Cool Roof technology for residential buildings. According to Mazi Shirakh from the California Energy Commission, these new Standards apply to both low-slope (rise to run <2:12) and steep-slope (rise to run >2:12) buildings; they vary by climate zone and by type of roofing material used, based on the density of the roofing product. In this video, energy expert Steve Easley and Shirakh also discuss photovoltaic and solar thermal systems located on the roof, and their impact on Cool Roof requirements.
