Radiant Barrier
A radiant barrier is a reflective material that reduces heat transfer between a heat-radiating surface and a heat-absorbing surface. The barrier keeps unwanted heat out of homes, leading to energy savings and increased comfort. Prescriptive requirements call for radiant barriers in certain climate zones. Using a performance approach, radiant barriers are modeled as separate adjustments to the heating and cooling U-factors.
